About the Cover

This photograph of a Yukon River winter fish trap was taken in 1882 by gold seeker Charles O. Farciot. The photo was discovered in a trunk by Farciot’s great-niece, Alice E. Rose, more than 100 years later, and eventually found its way to Anchorage photographer, Ken Graham, Farciot’s great-great-great nephew.
